Why Take Adult ESL Courses
In BHC’s Adult ESL program, you’ll develop the skills to:
- Participate in American society
- Enter employment
- Advance in the workplace
- Enroll in a training program or the Academic ESL Program
- Be successful in the citizenship process
ESL Classes
Students are placed in a class based on their level of English. Every class includes reading, writing, listening, speaking, and grammar. Students also learn general aspects of American culture and civics. New students are tested to ensure placement accuracy.
ESL Program Qualifications
This program is for residents of the Black Hawk College district who have limited English or who are non-English-speaking adults, 17 years of age or older. Sixteen-year-old students may enroll with parental and secondary school district permission.
Cost
Qualifying students attend classes without cost.
