Illinois State Treasurer Mike Frerichs recently stopped at the Quad-Cities Campus to discuss the role of the treasurer in Illinois government. He touted the value of college and the impact his degree made in the direction of his life.
Tim Wynes, BHC president, and Steve Frommelt, vice president for finance and administration, shared their thoughts about the direction of higher education in Illinois and trends Black Hawk College and other Illinois community colleges have experienced over the last several years.
“The opportunity to meet one-on-one with elected officials from our state gives us the chance to share our story,” Wynes said.
“Treasurer Frerichs understands our mission and the value we bring to our students, community and state,” he said.
Frerichs spoke about the value college savings plans have in making college attainable.
“When a young person has a savings plan, they can see a future that they may not have thought possible,” he said.
