Congratulations to Black Hawk College pitcher Payton Lawrence for being named to the 2021 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II Baseball All-American Second Team!
The Dixon High School grad was one of only 13 Region IV players in Division I, II and III to earn 2021 NJCAA All-American honors. All-America selections are made by the NJCAA Division II Baseball Committee.
This season, Lawrence had 10 wins with a 2.03 ERA (#4 in the country) and 116 strikeouts (#3 in the country). He threw eight complete games (#2 in the country) and broke four BHC program individual season records.
He also was a First Team All-Region pitcher and Arrowhead All-Conference pitcher.
In May, the Braves won the NJCAA Region IV Arrowhead Conference with a 20-0 record in the conference and a 44-13 record overall.
The team finished #9 in the final regular-season NJCAA Division II national poll and was Region IV runner-up.
