Amber Schlue of Silvis is the new student trustee on the Black Hawk College Board of Trustees. She was seated at the April 25, 2024, meeting and will serve until April 2025.
Schlue was elected by her peers to represent them on the board.
“I will make decisions that reflect the students’ ideas, goals, morals and future ambitions through my position on the Board of Trustees,” she said.
“I plan to uphold the oath I took and take part in the school events to gain other students’ trust and create a relationship with those around me,” she added.
Schlue is pursuing an Associate in Arts degree at the college’s Quad-Cities Campus in Moline. She is a member of Phi Theta Kappa honor society and the TRIO program.
This summer she plans to get more involved in the community, such as being a baseball coach for her son’s team.
After Black Hawk College, Schlue intends to transfer to Western Illinois University and pursue a bachelor’s degree in accounting.
