Responsibilities & Priorities

The Campus Police Department’s primary responsibility is to provide for the safety and protection of our students, staff and visitors. We are the primary law enforcement agency on campus and our officers have full police officer powers of arrest (ILCS 110, Act 805, Sec. 42.1). All of our officers have received extensive training in administration of justice classes and additionally must complete a number of state-mandated courses.

Our highest priority is to provide for the protection and safety of students, staff and visitors to our campus. To this end, we utilize a variety of innovative ideas to accomplish this objective.

Officer & Student Cooperation

As the College’s law enforcement agency, our officers wear distinctive uniforms and patrol in marked vehicles. Campus officers are proactive in community-policing efforts.  This program is designed to partner with our community members in both crime prevention and investigations. Our officers regularly meet with students and staff to identify needs or concerns. Campus Police officers are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Campus police provide specialized training for students in physical assault prevention. Additionally, the Campus Police offer the Run, Hide, Fight active shooter response training. For further information about these programs and course offerings, please contact the Campus Police Department. Information regarding crime prevention is also available through our offices.
