April is Community College Month, a time to celebrate a uniquely American institution, where anyone from any walk of life can become a college student.
The Associate in Arts (AA) degree at Black Hawk College is designed to provide students with a solid foundation for transferring to a four-year college or university. This degree program is ideal for students who are planning to pursue a specific major at their transfer institution or are still exploring their academic interests. By completing the general education core curriculum and introductory courses within the AA program, students can seamlessly transition to their chosen major upon transferring. Students completing the Associates in Arts degree will be able to:

1 course (may be satisfied by choosing a designated non-western Humanities, Fine Arts or Social & Behavioral Sciences course)

100- or 200- level courses count

Additional prerequisite courses may be required.
Black Hawk College offers an Associate in Arts degree (AA) that is completed exclusively online.
The AA degree is widely accepted by transfer schools. Academic advisors work closely with students and four-year colleges and universities to choose suitable courses.
